That's great you are having them memorize from the Bible!

I had my kids memorize 1 Timothy 2:12, Judges 19:25, Romans 1:27, Genesis 22:2, and Ephesians 5:22!

I just wanna say that I think its very brave to post this method, as I'm sure some will be quick to argue that it might be negative or something like that. I wish I had a strong enough spirit to do it, but sadly I can't bring myself to do so. Thanks for posting a method to try and help other moms.

As for how much, I really couldn't say. Probably a generous squirt. You don't want it too strong on the Aminos flavor--really, it's just to enhance flavor, like salt does.

It isn't vinegar; it's Aminos, and basically it replaces some of the salt and enhances flavor. I don't always use it.

I came across your blog while searching for the original poster of the image you used on your 2012 daylight savings post. Seeing that I stumbled across yet another mommy blog, and because I get endless amusement from such blogs, I decided to have a look around.

After reading your post on this ticketing system, I couldn't help but leave a reply. Do you really think punitive discipline is really the best way to encourage your children to behave? Does this system really mean that your child could potentially spend the entire day sitting on her bed and then go to bed early over something as basic as tattling? How awful...and archaic.

Have you tried actually talking to your children? Perhaps explaining when it's okay to tattle and why most tattling is inappropriate would help. Perhaps you should just ignore the tattling and reward the situations where she comes up with her own solutions instead of resorting to tattling.

And as far as "dissolving into tears" goes, you are totally ignoring her basic emotions when you send her to her room for expressing emotion. Instead of punitive punishment, why not have a gentle conversation about how she is feeling and why she is feeling that way. After you talk to her about how she is feeling, then offer some different tools for dealing with her current situation. For example, you could say, "I can see you are very disappointing right now. Crying won't really help us figure out a solution. Why don't you try talking to me instead?" Validating her feelings and then helping her to select new tools for dealing with these feelings is a far better way to get this behavior to stop.
